A Successful Conclusion

The Transform initiative has concluded with 6 companies approved to proceed to the ‘Action’ stage. Click to see the successful projects.

A wide range of industries are represented, demonstrating strong benefit to the New Zealand economy.

The process has encouraged and promoted the use of research and development within the textiles sector. It has also provided an interesting overview of the some of the challenges in uptake of R&D within the sector in New Zealand. The whole transform process and some of the outcomes are discussed in the paper entitled ‘An Innovation System’ presented by Timothy Allan from Locus Research at the Textiles New Zealand annual general meeting.

The goal of connecting industry with research and technology providers outlined in the original Textiles New Zealand Strategy prepared by Locus Research is clearly demonstrated through the successful projects which utilise a total of 11 providers in variegated sectors for the delivery of their projects.

The validation phase provided the ideal framework for the companies involved to investigate, plan and scope their projects accurately.  The resulting ‘Project Development Specification’ (PDS) provided the companies with a range of commercial and product specific intelligence that provides an excellent frame and guideline for each development.
