Encircle 'Super Sock' Praised by Government - 6 November 2009

A brand new health product and a training intiative drew praise for Levana Textiles during a visit by Deputy Prime Minister Bill English to Levin on Tuesday. Mr English praised the company for creating jobs and training their own workers rather than waiting for skilled workers to arrive on their doorstep.

Repose EasyCare Sleepware Scooped - 27 September 2009
The Transform project Repose is beginning to grab media attention, with it being featured on Scoop, Innovation and Textiles, and Science Alert Australia.
The creators talk about aiming to have the fabrics showcased in the 2010 Fashion Week.
"We hope in 2010 to repeat our successes at Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2008 and invite known designers to create garments with Easy Care Wool. They will look great, function well and be very comfortable," said Dr Surinder Tandon of Textile Science & Technology.
The new sleepwear fabrics are being manufactured by South Canterbury Textiles, "This cutting edge textile is exciting from our point of view - it's new, it's got real advantages over other fabrics used for sleepwear and it creates opportunities for us once it is available," said Andrew Miller CEO.

Zephyr Technologies featured on Radio New Zealand - 23 June 2009
Zephyr Technology Ltd is an Auckland electronic design company. Their flagship Bio-Harness chest strap, the result of the development of textile based technology, was profiled on National Radio's Morning Report. The interview can be listened to below.
Zephyr Technology was one of the companies who was successful in its application for funding from Textiles NZ's Transform Initiative in 2006 implemented for Textiles NZ by Locus Research. Locus Research develoloped the process that enable companies to create a robust project assessment and R&D structure.There were six companies who received funding. The Ministry of Economic Development provided the research investment to fund the projects. The Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST) has administered the funds and and the allocation of funds. The T&DL at AUT was also involved with Zephyr Technology Ltd during the development of the project.

"Successfully Transforming the Textiles Industry"
The Transform Initiative, launched on the 14th December 2006, has now officially received confirmation of funding for six research and development projects within the textiles industry.
The Transform Initiative was funded by Textiles New Zealand, with the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) providing the research investment to fund the projects. The Foundation for Research Science and Technology (FRST) will administer the funds and have played a key role in the development of the process and the allocation of funds.
The Transform initiative was designed and implemented for Textiles New Zealand by Locus Research, a consultancy based in Tauranga specialising in Product research & development, Project management and implementation.
