Over 800 firms in the New Zealand textiles industry, comprising of apparel, footwear, textiles and carpet were invited to participate in this innovative new initiative. The team at Locus Research received over 80 expressions of interest which were subsequently converted into 62 detailed proposals.
These proposals were assessed on business and science criteria developed by Locus Research which were reported to the External Advisory Group. The proposals were then assessed by an External Advisory Panel (EAP) which included Stefan Preston (Bendon), Fraser McLachlan (Ground Effect), Richard Templar (Meat & Wool), Robert Finch (Ag Research), Craig Holmes (FRST).
This created shortlist of 10 projects which were assessed by Locus Research and Textiles New Zealand for suitability.
6 Companies elected to move into the 'Product Development Specification' or the Validation Phase. This involved a rigorous research phase to develop the project, assess its feasibility and accurately plan its implementation.
